Y’all Are Just Going to Have to Entertain Yourselves Today

I have to work today, and then Jeffrey’s in town, so I am a busy little bee. Instead of writing something original, I’m going to link to things that have been keeping me busy on the Internet.

Xandi emailed this to me–when she knew full well I was working in the Children’s Room, no less–and insisted that I post it on my blog so that Jason gets all upset about it and comments in an irate fashion. Jason, please do not disappoint Xandi. The rest of you, I suppose you already know about the calendar, but if you don’t, well. It is something. And it supports a good cause.

Speaking of Jason,  he sent me this, which made me laugh in the kind of way that makes people ask if you’re choking.

Not to be all braggy, but I have a new review up over at AudioFile. I am reviewing for the magazine again after an almost seven-year leave of absence, and I’m excited about it.

Please let this be real. Thanks to Jules for that link.

Last, is it just me who finds the idea of a Once Upon a Potty app completely hilarious? Personally, I don’t know why anyone lets children anywhere near their iPhones or iPads or iWhatevers, and why one would turn to an expensive hand-held gizmo to teach someone how to use the bathroom is beyond me. Desperation, I suppose. If you need help figuring out potty training, check out what Aibileen has to say about it in The Help by Kathryn Stockett. It is vastly more entertaining and probably just as helpful as most of the potty training books you could read.

I don’t know why Jason’s upset; we’d all look if he wanted to stand in his nudie-pants and and hold up a book…for a good cause. (Not in the subway or anything.)

I’m with you on the kids and iPhone thing. A big “Oh, HECK NO, honey,” to that. This is why God made toys that don’t cost $500, kid-friendly apps be darned.

Do you know, I just started watching Arrested Development?? I’m so behind…

Jason will say it’s objectification or something like that, I think. I hope. We’ll see.

I’ve been rewatching Arrested Development lately, and it just makes me laugh and laugh.

Well, I hate to disappoint you, dear, but it’s not like the calendar is all racy and such, besides a couple photos. I’ve always felt that men were underrepresented in the library world, anyway. At least men that weren’t either directors or tech people. I want to be in a calendar that all male children’s librarians! With my clothes on.

Jen, I KNOW! I loved that article so much, it’s hard for me to even pick the funniest part.

Jason, I think it’s an excellent idea to keep your clothes on, even if you do keep dressing like me.

It was good to see you, and I was able to see the photos on that link, even without having Facebook (although you could totally see the Facebook logo in the corner giving me dirty looks). Anyway, good work!

Meghan, It is more evidence that librarians are just kind of awesome.

Well, glad to see that male librarians can gain some visual recognition for a good cause…and whatever Jason had you look at must be especially awesome because it was blocked by Central filters!

Xandi, We tried to get him to start ranting. Maybe next time.
