“To me, a lot of the time, it feels like stuff’s coming at me, you know, and I’m reacting as fast as I can, just trying to keep going. Just… just trying to be on my feet before the next thing hits.”
-Buffy in “The Harsh Light of Day,” Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Season 4, Episode 3)
“Two things that matter the most to me: emotional resonance and rocket launchers. Party of Five, a brilliant show that often made me cry uncontrollably, suffered ultimately from a lack of rocket launchers.”
-Joss Whedon as quoted in Dusted: The Unauthorized Guide to Buffy the Vampire Slayer by Lawrence Miles, Lars Pearson, and Christa Dickson
Monday’s yet another deadline, so I’m home from work today baking and working on encyclopedia entries. I’m finishing up Buffy the Vampire Slayer this morning and then launching into Twilight. I’ve spent way, way more time on Buffy than I needed to, mostly because that show is just so darned good. I rewatched some favorite episodes, listened to the musical soundtrack, and read and read and read. In case you’d like to do some revisiting, too, you might enjoy “10 Questions with… Joss Whedon” from The New York Times or “Interview with a Vampire Chronicler” from Entertainment Weekly.
Or maybe you could stop by for cherry oatmeal cookies and chocolate chip pumpkin muffins later. Whichever. Baking is my prize today.
Well, and going to the movies tonight.
And coffee. Lots of coffee.
