Article about Homeschooling in American Libraries

Abby the Librarian wrote a great article for American Libraries about the work she’s done with homeschoolers. You can read it online here. She mentions Helping Homeschoolers in the Library, and it really made my day when I saw it. One of the many reasons I write is because I love seeing people take information I put into the world and making something positive–for themselves, for their libraries, for their communities. At this point, Abby does more programming for homeschoolers than I do, so she’s an inspiration, too.

So, funny story, one of our homeschooling moms came in and met with me today about how to basically revamp our entire program and make it more effective as a teaching tool. I think the changes we’re going to make are going to make it easier for my staff to do the program AND more educational for the kids. If our homeschoolers respond the way I hope they will, good things are coming! Will keep you (and all) posted!
