I was not.
We also have an amazing rocking horse collection, including this guy:
I know I’m not supposed to have favorites, but he’s my favorite. Also my favorite? These nameplates the staff gave me this week in honor of Boss’s Day next week:
They did a whole surprise thing with flowers and a card and food. Everyone should be worried that they managed to pull this all off without me noticing a thing, but they don’t seem to be worried. They seem to be okay with the idea of me sticking around, and I’m glad, because I love it there.
Of course, we should also be worried because I found this note that I left myself on my desk blotter this week:
I don’t know, guys. I just don’t know. I mean, I don’t think it would really be all that cool to be stuck cooking a robot, but sometimes I write things down when people are talking because I’m afraid I’ll forget them, and the trouble with that is that I pay more attention to the listening than the writing. That’s when stuff like this happens.
I hope the robot’s okay.

Boss’s Day is next week? Whew!! :)
I keep meaning to tell Terri about all this so she’ll know what she should be expecting from you all.
The “Director” sign reminds me of a lottery commercial from a thousand years ago – the winner is in the grocery store, thinking, “I could totally afford all this cheese!”
The “Director” sign will keep you thinking, “I could totally do anything I wanted!”
Well, it’s a good thought, anyway.
I chortled over the “getting stuck cooking robot” note. It occurred to me that there is a lovely sit-com (with deep dramatic threads running through it, of course) with you as the main character running a library branch that is like a microcosm of Stars Hollow (i.e. every staff member and patron is quirky with interesting back-stories). Alas, all I have thus far is a situation, not a plot. I’m not sure who will star as you. Who would better for you than you, after all?
You’ve got great staff! Administrative Professional’s Week is April 22-28 (while this was originally created to honor secretaries, the holiday has been expanded to include library clerks, as well as other support staff). Last year, I celebrated by bringing in a bucket of apples to be enjoyed by all.
That rocking horse is very cute! And the nameplates are very nice:)Very attractive.
I think your note could be grouped together with Max’s button and paper composition.
I know what this means! It’s from our idea box, inspired by your idea box. You’re telling yourself that if you’re feeling stuck, you should be inspired by the amazing ideas that kids have, like cooking robots. It’s an infinite spiral of inspiration, like when two mirrors are facing each other, except instead of creepy infinity it’s awesome.
A robot for a cook, perhaps? Were you having conversations with The Jetsons?
Tanita, Also the cheese sounds good.
Farida, I’m up for a series.
Penny, You’re so right, and I’m putting that week on my calendar.
Mom, Thanks!
Heidi, YOU ARE RIGHT! Now I remember. I jotted it down because I loved the idea of a cooking robot so much and didn’t want to forget it! You know, this is exactly the kind of thing that makes the Internet awesome.
Little Willow, Love The Jetsons!
