“Every aspect of life is difficult for people. It’s all a little too much. We’re all deeply overwhelmed by it.”
-Judd Apatow in “Judd Apatow’s Family Business” by Dave Itzkoff in NYT (November 14, 2012)
I don’t have time to read or write right now, but I cannot seem to stop myself from doing either. Life’s a little crazy, but it’s also engaging, so there’s a lot to think about and talk about. Like Judd Apatow’s upcoming This is 40. Apatow talked about the emotions that led him to make this film in the episode of WTF that I’ve been telling you all to listen to for a year now, and he talks some more about it here. I’m turning 39 in a few weeks, so 40′s on my mind, too.
And also–thanks, Jules, for pointing this out–the film includes a new Fiona Apple song!

40 is really no big deal at all. I was a little freaked out and then a month before I turned 40 I realized it was all silliness. My 40s are nothing like my 30s.
I have a pretty good perspective on turning 40, I think. It’s mostly been spurring me to do healthy and productive things–all this business to get my life in order and start some new adventures.
I thought you were 22!
You posting this reminded me that this year, my sister will be turning 40. this seems crazy.
New adventures are awesome and fun. Well, unless they are terrifying and end up with you having to chew your leg off to escape from a bear trap set on a Scandanavian hillside in the middle of winter.
Just sayin’
Brandon, You remain my favorite member of Film Club.
Olivia, You’re older than you’ve ever been, and now you’re even older.
Chad, This is a perfect example of why one should visit only warm places on winter vacations. Duly noted.
Yes, let’s make sure the Feb. trip is warm and no bear traps.
I can’t wait!!! For all my periodic angst, life just seems to be getting better all the time lately.
