Tiffany: You let me lie to you for a week?
Pat: I was trying to be romantic.
-Silver Linings Playbook
I told you this was how it was going to be, with the revising. It’s bye-bye Looper, hello Silver Linings Playbook.
1. Your Sister’s Sister
2. The Master
3. Brave
4. Silver Linings Playbook
5. Moonrise Kingdom
6. Finding Nemo 3D
7. Shut Up and Play the Hits
8. Beasts of the Southern Wild
9. Django Unchained
10. Celeste and Jesse Forever
There’s a moment in Silver Linings Playbook when Jennifer Lawrence’s Tiffany tells Bradley Cooper’s Pat that she’s married. Pat replies that Tiffany’s not married because her husband is dead, and in a moment of the most exquisite acting, the audience sees Tiffany go from stunned to shocked to hurt to angry. Very, very angry. I was stunned watching it, because I know exactly how that feels. There’s another great moment when Pat finishes reading A Farewell to Arms, stands up, shouts “WHAT THE FUCK?,” and throws the book out the window. Who hasn’t felt that way reading Hemingway? The acting is first-rate throughout the film, even when the script has a couple weak moments, and music is fantastic–both in the choices and the way it’s used. There’s a lot to think about here, too, about how to be a flawed human being who loves other flawed human beings, about how to really exist in that world. I loved it.

I absolutely loved this movie. Amazing acting from the entire cast. I want to see these characters again.
I heard the book is very good, too, so I’ve been thinking about reading it. I have to finish my Julia Child bio first, though.
Not that you don’t have enough to read, put Code Name Verity on your list.
Well, I have a plane trip and a train trip over the next couple weeks, so in theory, I’ll have a lot of time to catch up on my reading. :)
