That doesn't really address the burning question, "What's wrong with her?"

Perhaps it's there between the lines?

Obviously Mr. X is not a math person. You are the sum of all the parts.Besides I and my offspring were prominently featured.Although I don't know how I feel about his having top billing, he would never hold your hair back.

That's right Tammy. And each of us is a work in process.I,however, question the motives and/or values of a person who prioritizes what may be "wrong" with a person. It's the half empty/half full syndrom...and says much about Mr.X.

Now I see how BLOGs work.. They're addicting. I'm addicted to seeing my own words in print. I have to stop this!

Before I do though.. Why REALITY BITES? Also why CHARMED? That must be cable because I have not seen it. Next Monday I will be the featured reader (20 minute opening set) at Writers and Books' open mic. I have to start gearing up for that. I'm doing a small benefit show in a coffeehouse on Friday for a friend with something that looks like MS but isn't. I should be thinking about that too but all I can think about is checking this page to see what my comments look like in print and also the release today of ALIENS VS PREDATOR. It sounds lousy but I still want one.

Richard - Good points and questions.

A recent study showed that blogs are nearly as addictive as heroin. They're working on a drug to help junkies stop typing, but they're still testing it on lab rats. ;)

Reality Bites -- Um. Well. It's good as far as that genre goes, but even I have to admit it's not such a great movie. It's hard to answer that "What's your favorite movie?" question. I have a lot of favorites. I thought about doing a "Favorite Happy Movie," "Favorite Scary Movie," etc... type-thing, but I didn't. I also considered putting down Magnolia or Bottle Rocket, both of which are favorites of a bit higher quality. It's just so hard to pick.

Charmed is an indication of exactly how boring exercising at the Y can be. I have to do *something* while I'm there. I'm always listening to music, but I usually end up looking at the TV screens and Charmed is, somehow, always on. And it's so completely abysmal, but it's usually better than the other options (Fox News, for instance).

So what will you read at W&B's open mic? That sounds like a fun deal....

Posted by: Adrienne at January 25, 2005 07:34 PM

Well, on Friday I've put together this thing at a coffeehouse in Brockport. I run an open mic in the city every Wednesday and it will look a bit like that, only I have just asked the better guys to come to Brockport. It's to raise money for this one comedian who has always been poor but his hands have been shaking for a while now, it's getting worse, and the doctors don't understand what's causing it. I won't be doing great sets there but using that time to try out some new things. I'll do a few older things. Deb and a couple more of the library people will stop out for that anyway as it's kind of in the neighborhood.

On Monday, I'll be doing a set of generally older material for the Writers and Books crowd.. Somewhat similar to the set I did when I was at the Downstairs Cabaret. Not much experimenting there. The night you saw me I was doing a lot of new things so those shows always have a number of lows. The Writers and Books show should be pretty smooth as long as they don't shut me out purely because I'm doing comedy. The guy who runs the thing asked me to do it and is more than a little aware of what I do.. so I hope it will go well.

If you and your friends are looking for something to do either night.. I appreciate support. The thing on Friday will be held at Java Junction in Brockport at 8 and there is no charge but we'll be passing a hat for Steve. Deb will be there and Jen would have been but she's still sick. I don't think anyone I know is going to come out Monday but that will be held at Writers and Books on University at 7:30. I'll be up first. This is the basic info I put in people's mailboxes:

On Friday, Jan. 28th, at 8 pm at Java Junction (56 Main Street, Brockport) I’ll do two short sets of new material (some will work, some not). There will be about ten comedians on the bill all doing short (7 minute) sets. Free event.

On Monday, Jan. 31st, at 7:30 pm at Writers and Books (740 University Avenue), I will be the featured “reader” before they begin their poetry and prose open mike. I’ll do a 20 minute set of some older set pieces and only a couple newer things. Free event.

Thanks for the entertaining blog. I thought all librarians were boring. There's nothing wrong with you that a few hours of original cataloging of rare monographs in foreign languages won't fix. Preferably in a windowless basement.
