How to Get People to Read Your Blog

1. Tell your friends and relatives about it.
2. Insist that your friends and relatives tell their friends and relatives about it.
3. Ask people if they’ve read the blog. This is most effective when followed by a mysterious smile.
4. Mention people’s names. This will keep them reading if for no other reason than they’ll want to make sure you don’t tell any brazen lies about them or tell stories about their most nefarious deeds.
5. Speaking of nefarious deeds, when you’re out with people and they’re doing something they’d rather other people didn’t know about (for example, when you’re on your way to a party and are hopelessly lost in east Buffalo and your friend doesn’t want the party’s host to know you were ever lost at all), say something like, “This would make a great blog entry!”
6. Start giving your friends pseudonyms and write about how fabulous they are.
7. Comment back to comments.
8. Write about throwing up. People seem to like that.
9. They also seem to like entries about zombies.
10. And books about poop.

You should also all read Meg Cabot's blog entry about CEER (Monday, March 7). I agree with everything she says there.
