Adrienne, Why Do You Drive Clear Across the City Every Day to Go to Work?
I get this question A LOT.
But, look! In my world, it's always sunshine and rainbows:
Recently, I realized that while I blather on endlessly about the Children's Room, a great many of you haven't ever seen it. Isn't it pretty?
There's also a puppet theater:

As you can see, Maurice the Mouse (who, I believe, may be related to the mouse frequently seen at Fuse #8) is consulting a magic 8 ball to find out what he should do to thwart the evil designs of Julius Squeezer the Boa Constrictor (boa constrictor, boa constrictor). When he’s not thwarting Julius, Maurice (some people call him "The Space Cowboy") enjoys playing air guitar and Living Strong.
In this photo, please take particular note of our fun signs that look like clouds:
We also have a drunkard living in the corner:
The truth is, I don't like that monkey. I'm not much of a Curious George fan in the first place (sorry, Craig!), and that particular version always looks like he's contemplating something lewd. I tried to get rid of him once, but when children were still crying at his absence four weeks later, I decided I'd better bring him back. It's easy to ignore him, though, because I can just focus on our block table instead:
Love that thing.
And those are a few good reasons that I drive clear across the city to come to work every day.

Hey, that monkey looks an awful lot like the one in the commercial that escapes the toy box to huff Febreze off the living room carpet. Same twisted smile.

That IS a relative of my mouse! The best danged hand puppet ever thought up by man. It even smiles. Mine is named Basil, but that's only because a fellow librarian already claimed the name Marceau for her own.

Perhaps one of the library clouds has a public service announcement about "huffing".And yes,Adrienne. What a wonderful work setting!Good thing the little boys&girls are not privy to the childrens librarians offices:-)Part of the librarian mystique for them:-)

Actually, when kids see our offices, they're always like, "COOL!" And they don't want to leave.
Of course, a little girl was just standing here in front of the Gazebo with her hands on her hips looking around. Then she exclaimed, "This place is a mess!" Then she dug into the blocks.

Well,I'm not surprised the children love the offices! Not one bit. After seeing the Jedi&Bunny adventure, and knowing how you love to pick up cool items at the conventions.I'm sure there is plenty for a kid to like! You had many offices when you were a kid.All of them messy. You left the cleaning to housekeeping:)You know,on that Princes thing, you had an office at "Small World" the coolest dress shop in the Mohawk Valley. And Grandma let you play with her diamonds&gold(she always said she was allergic to non precious metals). So,I think maybe you fit in a bit of everything.Maybe not!LOVE2U

While I do love The Simpsons, since they totally mock everything,I am NOT obsessed with them.I loved your card by the way.It kind of amazes me how Van Gogh just remains so popular through the centuries and milleniums. Not that I don't love much of his work. And of course read many books about him.Still, there does seem to be something that is able to move folks on a very deep level in his work.LOVE TO YOU!THANKS FOR THE CARD!BUT NO I AM NOT ONE OF THOSE OBSESSED FOLKS!

I think you drive clear across town to work because you have the best coworkers in the whole county. Maybe even the whole state.

I *had* a really nice view of the SU Campus, but they're doing construction now outside my window. And let me tell you, these construction workers look NOTHING like the ones in the Diet Coke commercial!!

Yes, Mary Ann, it's true. Those are just a few of the reasons, and the rest all have to do with having incredibly cool, interesting, and smart coworkers. :) Maybe I'll post pictures of all of you next (wa, ha, ha!).
Kelly, I think the only way to deal with this unwelcome change in your work environment is to read more Meg Cabot novels.

I believe you need to consult the recently published "Curious George Visits the AA Meeting" . . . and then atone for your sins, Miss A.

I'm happy to see Craig is back! And as usual,so right Miss A.

I think it is the Scooby that does the lewd things, perhaps Curious George gives him the ideas.
