"beholden"

"ultimatum" and "neutral"
Olivia… and the Missing Toy by Ian Falconer
"unattractive" and "wooshee gaga"
Giant Ball of String by Arthur Geisert
"illgotten"

"violent" (as in, "that bunny is") and repeated use of the phrase "not to be trusted"

I love the scene in _I Love You Mr. Bear_ in which the little girl tries a tutu on the bear and comments, "not your style."

I'm not sure I've read I Love You Mr. Bear, but now I'm going to have to check it out.
For some reason, reading your comment reminded me of "jalapenos" in Skippyjon Jones by Judith Byron Schachner, "Okra" in To Market, To Market by Anne Miranda, and "laundromat" in Knuffle Bunny by Mo Willems.

More books to put on hold.
Have you ever read The King's Cat is Coming by Stanley Mack? It was one of my favorites as a child. It's an alphabet book that had aggressive, gigantic, and other more interesting words I don't remember right now.

Click, Clack, Moo is a favorite of mine for so many reasons. It seems to fit on almost any list of children's books I make for one reason or another....

I always liked Veronica, who was a conspicuous hippopotamous. (Duvoisin) Such as nic word, conspicuous.
