Princess on the Brink
I know that you, like me, are anxiously awaiting the December 26 release of Princess on the Brink, the eighth volume in Meg Cabot's Princess Diaries series. I just found this excerpt on Meg's web site, which you should totally read.
Naturally, I have a few comments.
Reading the excerpt kind of made me want to go break into a warehouse somewhere to get my hands on the book (if only it wasn't so cold outside!), but it does provide more disturbing proof that Meg plans to break up Mia and Michael and have Mia end up with the guy who hates when they put corn in the chili. On the one hand, anyone can see that Mia totally belongs with JP, but I don't think I can watch Mia and Michael break up. It would just be too traumatic. And then there's Lilly to consider. It stresses me out just thinking about it.
You know what else stresses me out?
No one in the Monroe County Library System has added Size 14 is Not Fat Either to their collection yet. I suppose I should look on the bright side (i.e. I already have a bunch of books I really want to read at home), but this is MEG CABOT, people. I have my priorities -- although I have to admit that the choice between a Meg Cabot and a (newly National Book Award Winning) M.T. Anderson is probably more than I can bear. Must finish the Anderson before it becomes a problem....

Spoiler! I hate those excerpts when I know the book is not even published yet. I just don't have that kind of patience. I don't feel quite so anxious when I haven't sampled the goods. But gosh darnit I have a few authors who I wish would write faster. (Thinking here of Eion Colfer for one. I just finished the Lost Colony, which I thought was the best Artemis Fowl yet, but need the next book now.)(And BTW what's up with J.K. Rowling?)

hey - at least I bought it for the library, and TWO copies so that you would have a chance at enjoying the Meg Cabot-y goodness. ;)

Sorry, that's an adult book. Can't help you there. Maybe you could coerce Sally into buying it. I know she likes Hot Chocolate... :)

Rest easy little ones. It's on the list for purchase as soon as the new budget year begins.

Meg has a totally revamped site and a few fetching new photos of her. sigh. At least now people only see me reading one pretty pink blog at work.

I noticed the photos and must admit I found them fetching, too. :)

I think Chuck has a problem.
