Worst Annotation Ever?
From Midwest Tapes' July 2, 2007 Weekly Newsletter:
The Smurfs: Complete First Season
“Little blue creatures called Smurfs live in mushroom houses in a forest inhabited mainly by their own kind. Their routine is to avoid Gargamel, an evil man who wants to kill them.”
I hesitate to make fun of Midwest Tapes (We love them at WPL and get most of our DVDs from them.), but this a perfect illustration of the difference between “accurate” and “interesting and well-written.” I mean, this is supposed to make me want to buy this, and instead of bringing up the childhood nostalgia that has led us to purchase such things as Alf, this makes me remember how I caught an episode of the Smurfs on TV several years ago and was stunned by how stupid it was.
We’re still totally going to have to buy it, at least the first season. I mean, COME ON: The Smurfs.
Of course, Robot Chicken got it right when they blended The Smurfs and the movie Seven. I warn you in advance, THIS IS EXTREMELY OFFENSIVE:
But funny!

I need a drink now because Kristen keeps mentioning it :) Thank god this week has two Fridays.
I was such a good boy and refrained from watching this at work and totally screwed myself out of seeing it in time. THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR FOLLOWING THE RULES!!!
