Okay So I Can’t Believe that It Took Me Reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar for the Twelve Bazillionth Time Today to Notice…
…that Eric Carle totally made a little funny when he had the caterpillar eat a pair of pears on Tuesday. The moral of the story? Do not underestimate The Carle.
Book mentioned:
Carle, Eric. The Very Hungry Caterpillar. NY: Philomel Books, 1969. (DUDE, I am NOT EVEN going to list all of the eds. of this book. If you can't find it, you aren't trying.)

Hee. I've never noticed that either.
And I think ALL annotations or reference notes should have "dude" in them.

I know, if one of the style guides adopted "DUDE" as a regular part of references, I would stick by it until my dying day. Alas.

pair (of shoes, couple)
pear (the fruit)

If you can't find it, you're purposely trying NOT to find it. That's how prevalent it is.

Heidi, There are tons of words like that in English. I don't know how anyone learns it.
