Quotable Thursday
“You see, whenever I start feeling sick, I just stop being sick and be awesome instead.”
-Barney in “How Lilly Stole Christmas,” How I Met Your Mother, Season 2
I went to bed last night telling myself that I would wake up awesome instead of sick this morning, but I woke up sick. Whatever happened to my Immune System of Steel? I’m blaming Lucas, who has been coughing nonstop for two weeks, although I suppose it could have been any of the whippersnappers who are forever in the library coughing and sneezing. And, on the bright side, Lucas felt badly enough for me this morning that he dried my dishes and put away the ones that went in cupboards he could reach. He’s an awfully good egg, that kid.
As for me? I think it’s time to crawl back to the couch and nap again.

My grandmother(G.Hoke)loved to travel, and did so well into her eighties. But whenever she'd go from cold to warm or the other way(usually both),she'd get sick.Well,be that as it may, take good care of yourself.I love you.I won't call because you may be sleeping and sipping some nice juice when you awaken.

I'd forgotten all about that Barney quote. It reads best when you say it aloud with a stuffy nose. Sleep tight.

Feel better soon Ms A. I too would blame the airplane, Ken was sick right after we came back from Florida. (PS, you are awesome even when sick)

Thanks all!
Abby, so sorry you're sick, too! It's the kids, I tell ya.
Pat, I'm trying to be awesome, but it's hard when one hasn't snowered or even changed into fresh pajamas. I may give the old shower-and-change thing a go soon, though.

Kristen, "snowered." OMG, I'd go back and change it, but I think everyone should see what happens to me when I get sick.
I'm glad you're over your illness--it does sound *way* worse than mine. I will be the first one to admit that I am such a complete and total baby about being sick.
Totally looking forward to seeing you guys! I've been debating what I'm going to make as my dish-to-pass. I was thinking about breaking with tradition and making something besides rye boat to bring. Will everyone kick me out??? They will, won't they?

ummmmm...yea...there is a certain man I live with...that is in awe of you and your rye boat. heehee...you must bring it or he will cry rivers. Not pretty. Trust me, I know.
We are bring chips and homemade salsa and a chocopeanutbutter chip homemade cake...yummy
Stay warm in the storm and get well!! :)

I think "snowered" is my new favorite word and shall henceforth perfectly sum up that feeling one has when one is too sick to even *want* to shower.
Hope you're better soon!

Kristen, Rye bread-check; sour cream-check; mayo-check; herbs-check; corned beef-check; onions-check. Looks like we'll have ourselves a rye boat. I cannot disappoint Terry.
Karen, Thanks!
