San Francisco, Coffee, and Sunshine
When you live in WNY, it takes a while to notice the way the sun has forsaken you. I mean, I knew it was getting dark early at home, but I always think of January and February as being the truly dark months. Most people put their Christmas lights up at home around Thanksgiving; I think they fool us into thinking there is more light than there truly is, at least for a while.
Here in San Francisco, though, there is sun. Lots and lots and lots of sun. There are also coffee places every block or two, including one right across the street from my hotel. This morning, I ran across the street in the morning twilight in my pajamas to get my large peppermint latte. I’m prone to dashing around in my pajamas from time-to-time at home, but here it seems like a way more normal thing to do.
So there is coffee, there is sun, and the workshop I’ve been planning for and fretting about for months is successfully behind me. WOO HOO!
Today, I’m riding the cable cars. I’m going to eat breakfast in that place Jeffrey told me about. I’m going to see some parrots. Maybe I’ll even see some seals.
I love being here.

I'm so happy for you my young,carbon-based offspring:) On all counts.Though frankly,I'm not a bit surprised that your workshop went well. And I've watched you work so hard through the years to find your rays of sunshine--it makes me cry with happiness when you get the rewards for your work. You have a fierce talent for life:)And,I told you you'd fit right in with those natives, scurrying about in the morning in their PJs desperate for their latte!

I'm bummed Chuck and I won't see you this weekend, but there's always next time (January!). I can accept you going to get coffee in your PJs, but if you do your weekly grocery shopping at Wal-Mart (like a lot of people do), I just don't know if I could handle that.

See if you can get the parrots and the seals to pose together.
YAY for sunshine. It's actually nice here, so I'm going out right now and taking my dog for a walk.
I'm glad your workshops went well. But I knew they would.

Two weeks from today!!!!!
I'm so glad your conference went well! I crack up at the idea of you racing through the city in your pajamas, but seriously, you hardly stand out, I'm sure.
Peppermint latte... Okay, I'm going to have to try one of those...

SWEET.
Sun. Coffee. It just doesn't get better. For real.
Maybe I should consider San Francisco for retirement.
Have fun!

Here I thought no one would be reading my blog anymore, since it had been so many days since I last posted--but look at you all making my day with your comments! :)
Momster, Well, I'll have to make some changes for my next workshops, but they're small ones. I can always do better. :)
Kelly, I swear to you that I will never do my grocery shopping at Wal-Mart in my pajamas.
Sara, They were sea lions, not seals, and it seems that they and the parrots have some kind of unspoken rivalry and will not pose together. It's all very mysterious.
TadMack, I can see why you like it here, and it's true that I would have to be running around in something much stranger than my pajamas to attract attention here.
Jules, It's kind of expensive here, so maybe your retirement plan maybe should include winning the lottery or something, too. If I had money, I'd be tempted to buy one of those funky places on a crazy steep hill.

Glad you're having such a great time there Adrienne, but I knew you would. After all, who wouldn't like sunshine everyday, it helps to brighten the spirits!! Don and I really need to get out to visit different places in California, and San Francisco is definitely one of them.Enjoy it all and then store up some sunshine for home, you'll need it! Love you............

It really was a good trip. :) It's good to be home now, though--resting up, getting things back in order, baking bread. Thank goodness I have today off to recover.
