"But Here on Earth There'd Be No Life Without the Light It Gives"
Unlike, it seems, 99.9% of the population of the United States, I like to sleep with the curtains in my bedroom open. I don't know why anyone does anything different. I have my bed situated so that if it's a sunny day, the sun wakes me up in the morning, because after a long winter, if we're going to have a sunny day, I want to be the first to know about it. Today, for instance, they were forecasting the same rainy cold day we had yesterday, but right now it's blue skies and sun, sun, sun as far as I can see. It's got to be a good day, right?

*sigh*
I LOVE to do that, if only my bedroom didn't face a city street at this point, I'd be whipping open the drapes, too. I did at home, certainly, but here there's a street light every two inches and no backyards.
Catch some moon rays for me.

I *just* finished up another chapter in Lulu Atlantis with my girls, and I love how Martin has Lulu's very snooty great-aunt, Great-Aunty Hauty, who gets chased away by a monster, all anti-sunlight-in-the-morning: "...I simply must have a western exposure. Otherwise, I am troubled by that ghastly early-morning sun. It is so bright, it is simply ostentatious! I do not want to be troubled by an ostentatious sun!"
I mean, we *just* read that. And then I read this post. Sometimes I think we're puh-sychic friends. (Or "frineds," as I always typed it in my high school typing class.)
And, yes, those are good days. When you wake up to the ostentatious sun.

Tanita, YES, I love when the moon is out, too.
Jules, "Ostentatious sun" is perfect. I must start using that in conversation. And we are totally puh-sychic frineds (although I had to drop typing class, because it completely and totally stressed me out).

Oh, I'm with you sister.
So much so that (gasp) we don't HAVE drapes on our bedroom windows.
For real.

Liz, I don't technically have them right now myself, either, although I really do mean to get some. Sometime.

I don't know about this! :) A girl loves the sun, but for me, I can get plenty of it during the day and it doesn't need to wake me up. Anything that wakes me up is not cool. The sun here in the UAE is crazy intense and I have realized that i was waking up an hour or so earlier with the sun rising earlier. boo!

When I was in California, I noticed I was getting up earlier much more easily, and I realized that it's because it is always sunny there.
