Quotable Monday

"Pablo Picasso looks so angry but no. Pablo Picasso is Pablo Picasso. He just invented Modern art which is not the same thing as being angry but then again maybe it is."
-from Gertrude is Gertrude is Gertrude is Gertrude by Jonah Winter, illustrated by Calef Brown

Seriously, have you guys read this? Pure joy, and Brown's illustrations are genius.

Book mentioned:
Winter, Jonah, and Calef Brown. Gertrude is Gertrude is Gertrude is Gertrude. NY: Atheneum Books for Young Readers, 2009. (HC: 9781416940883)

Isn't it LOVELY?! I adore this book- it is SO much fun to read aloud :) My kids were entranced by it.

I had to read a bit of it out loud to myself at my desk today, I was loving that language so much.

Doh. My library doesn't have it. Just checked. Will hit the bookstore. Or finally renew my card at the Nashville library.

CALEF! I just went and checked my interview with him, thinking there might even be GERTRUDE art (since he sent a bajillion pieces of art work), but alas, there is none there.

I wondered the same thing about your interview with Calef, Jules. I think you would really like this book.
