Storytime in the Park, Part 3
It was warmer and sunnier than the past two weeks yesterday morning, but I'm afraid this isn't saying a whole lot. We should also give a HUZZAH to the storytime attendee who loaned me a pen so I could jot down storytime to post to the blog today. THREE CHEERS FOR OUR AWESOME PATRONS!
"1-2-3 We Are Dancing"
A Jason original. Seriously, all libraries should have a children's librarian on hand who writes music.
"2 Little Blackbirds"
We're going to see a lot of repeats out of me in this storytime.
Grumpy Bird by Jeremy Tankard
7-Imp's Sunday Tankard feature inspired me to read this yesterday. It would have worked better with a smaller group, I think (we were 100 kids, plus 60-some adults again yesterday), but, still, good.
"Mr. Spaceman" by The Byrds
I was supposed to remember to note that Jason tried to start out with the wrong verse on this one. No one would have noticed if he'd just rolled with it, but instead he started over. One of the children later suggested that he'd forgotten the words because he'd lost them when he'd shaved off his beard a few weeks back.
Jason's Fingerplay Warm-Up Thing
He has this whole routine he does. The kids love it.
"I Wiggle My Fingers"
Jason did this one yesterday, but I use it a lot in storytimes, too.
Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems
I read this, and, really, what storytime is complete without Mo and a little shouting?
"BINGO"
Jason said he was doing this again "by request."
"Sticky, Sticky Bubblegum"
I'm not sick of this yet.
"Hoppity Song" from For the Kids
Nor this.
