Finished, with My Magic 8 Ball Collection on Display

Although I realized that I inadvertently forgot to bring in my Ruby Gloom Magic 8 Ball, which is good, as I am working from home today and it wouldn’t do not to have any assistance in making major decisions.

Question: Should I get out of my yoga pants?
Ruby Gloom Magic 8 Ball: I don’t think so.

See?

Lovely! And really, don't you think everyone should have a magic eight ball collection? I surely do!

P.S. - Just because I need to see it every so often, I clicked through to The Cat Came Back. The link is bad. Here's the new one.

I so NEED one of those.

Ooh, is that your personal Magic 8 Ball collection? Nifty. In fact, there is a Magic 8 Ball in one of the stories I'm working on. I take this post as a good omen that I'm on the right track. :)

Tricia, You are so right about the Magic 8 Balls. And thank you for letting me know about that link! Goodness knows how long it would have taken me to notice.

Tanita, In my dreams, I hire this carpenter to make something like this in my home.

Sarah, Yup, my collection! I do love it. I suppose I should keep the Magic 8 Balls in their boxes to keep them all pristine, but I really like to use them. They're just silly good fun, and you are so on the right track with that story. I can't wait to read your first published book one of these days.

I want a Magic 8 Ball that gives all the right answers, like "Stay in your yoga pants or robe til at least noon most days". Do you have one of those?

Posted by: Liz in Ink at September 16, 2009 10:44 PM

No, but I *do* have one that says "I like you the way you are" and "Your breath is so minty." Those things are always right.

I will NOT tell my husband about your magic 8 ball collection, or he will want one for himself. One year, he gave 8 balls to all of his co-workers for holiday gifts. (hey, no need for management anymore!)

Dinosaur vs. magic 8 balls! Magic 8 balls win!

Cool! Can kids play (and I can understand supervised) with one of the balls? I remember these bringing immense pleasure and excitement when I was a kid!

Terry, People are often surprised to find out about the many Magic 8 Ball varieties.

Jules, Good eye! Once I posted the pic, though, I realized I probably could have neatened things up and faced out a few more books before taking the photo. Ah, well, next time.

Cheryl, Yes, there is one for the kids to play with. You can just barely see it in the back of the short shelf directly under the display case. It's one of my old ones.

Archie McPhee in Seattle has an amazing collection of Magic Eight Balls. I even tried to call you once to find out if you had the Zombie Magic Eight Ball (kidding! I can't remember which one it was). We may have to make a trip there just so you can see if there's anything missing from your collection.

Farida, Oh, yes, I'd like to go there. I've never been to a store that carries more than maybe two or three. Aside from the standard model, they can be hard to find.

What a great display! Since you say you left your Ruby Gloom at home, and the HSM ball seems to be hiding behind the door on the bottom, I'm left wondering what that shiny red ball on the top shelf is.

Thanks! The other red one's the Magic Love Ball. I can't find a pic online. It's similar to the Magic Date Ball, although it has different sayings. I wouldn't give it to a kid, which is why I have it hidden up on the top shelf behind glass.
