Remember When?

Remember way back in 2008 when I lost one of my shoes? Well, I found it today, in a box of Christmas lights in my basement. You know, where everyone keeps the spare shoes.

The irony? A few weeks ago, I gave myself a stern talking-to and told myself to accept that the missing shoe was not coming back and that I needed to get rid of this one lone shoe I had sitting around. So I threw it out. There’s a moral in that, but I come out on the bad end, so let’s not think about it too much.

Even better, last night, I was getting ready to go out and decided I had to find my brown sweatshirt. I stopped looking after about five minutes. When I realized I was wearing it. I own a house, people. I drive a car. We should all be a little scared.

Temporal anomalies.

I'm pretty sure the moral is just to go barefoot, at least when taking down the tree :)
Happy New Year, Adrienne...

I guess they call this "waiting for the other shoe to drop." Or "be found in the box of Christmas lights."

We are still waiting for TWO sets of car keys to turn up somewhere. And I have worn one brown shoe and one black one to church. Let's be scared together.

Momster, It was a little like The Twilight Zone.

Liz, Oh, boy, but it was 10 degrees here yesterday. Snowing today.

Sara, Tee hee. Glad I'm not alone.

Oh, NOOOOOO! Socks somehow may congregate and go to far-off places that we can never discover, and then we can "release" the partner sock to go find the other, but shoes!? Oh, no, no, no. They're not supposed to go without us.

I'm sure the moral is that now you need *TWO* new pairs. One for pain and suffering...

I'm glad you found your shoe! Maybe the Borrowers were using it.

I have been doing lots of the same but I have been blaming it (maybe rightfully) on pregnancy ;)

Anyone who works with large quantities of children many days in a row is exempt from mocking of memory lapses.

Tanita, This is stunning good logic, and Tammy and I haven't gone shopping in *forever*. The time has come.

Farida, I didn't even think of that. I suppose it could have also been the mouse that ran off with my mousetrap a few months back.

Cheryl, That is a good reason for pretty much anything, I'd say. :)

Xandi, You are, as ever, too kind.

Yeah, is this kind of thing that makes it so hard for me to toss stuff - because I know that I'll need it later. One day it will all come together.

Oh boy do I feel better now. I do stuff like this sweatshirt thing all the freakin' time. Makes me crazy.

In 2008 we could not locate a beloved Christmas tree ornament. The darn thing turned up this past Christmas Eve. In a shoe box. Hmmmmm?

Pam, Sometimes I get that way about stuff because I read too many end-of-the-world novels. So I'll be like, "I can't get rid of that blanket. I'll be so sorry after the zombies attack." Or whatever.

Jules, But do you also worry that you may regret getting rid of blankets because you'll want them after the zombies arise?

Steph, I also have this toy Wegmans truck that I know, know, know is in the house somewhere, but I cannot find it. I've been looking for it for at least three years now.

Not so much blankets -- but definitely canned foods. In fact, I use the phrase "when the zombies come" as a sort of metaphor for Any Kind of Terrible Tragedy, which will involve said blankets and canned items and which I hope won't happen in our lifetimes.

I guess there could also be REAL zombies one day. One never knows. Oh, a new thing to worry about.

I don't know. I feel pretty safe from the zombies. I keep thinking I should be better about keeping around canned goods. I have things I've canned, but it's not very balanced, since I mostly can jam.
