This Week's Episode of Lost Was One of the Best I've Seen in Quite a Long Time
However, that doesn't mean I liked it. Here are my observations, in the form of questions:
#1 - Is Jack going to do anything right ever again?
#2 - I understand that there has been a lot of foreshadowing (and by "a lot," I mean, "significant storylines every single season") about the situation with Sayid, but, still, couldn't this all just be some kind of misunderstanding? In both timeframes???
#3 - Uh, Kate? Wrong way.

That last one wasn't really a question. :)

I thought it was a good episode but Michael didn't because it was one of those where the most happens in the last 5 minutes. Where is Sawyer? Where is Richard? I have a feeling Jack will be the "next Jacob." I'm a Jack girl so I like that idea. I really like Jacob though and hope I am not utterly disappointed! 10 more episodes!

Jason, You and your technicalities.
Cheryl, I agree about this Jacob/Jack thing. I have liked Jack less this last season or two, but I liked him a lot before then, so I'm hoping he'll step it up this season and stop acting like such an enormous baby.
Speaking of acting, it was the acting that got me in this ep., particularly in that last (disproportionately eventful, as you note) fifteen minutes. I was remembering how much I have invested in all these people and care about what happens to them--even minor characters like Miles. At least Miles went with the right group. Incidentally, I found myself feeling uncharacteristically bad for poor Ben. His brief moment with Sayid in the pool room was really something--he was kind of a stand in for the audience there, I suppose.

Incidentally, I think the actor that plays Ben might be the best on the show (though the guy who plays Locke is a close second). There is no character on the show who has done as many heinous things as Ben, and yet we're still able to have sympathy for him: "oh, that poor man- he wanted so badly to be in control of everything and everyone and killed a bunch of people to make it happen, but he lost his daughter and now he's so helpless... awwww."

Adrienne, I got chills at the very, very end of the episode (the creepy new tune-age didn't hurt -- wasn't it creepy choral singing, or am I remembering all wrong?*) when Kate was following with utter confusion what clearly seems to be the group of evil-infested folks.
And where exactly are Hurley and Jack? I'm almost scared to next see them.
I lost a lot of faith in the show, circa Season Three (maybe latter half of Two), but I obviously still care (and still have little shreds of hope) ... and it was nice to be truly creeped out again for a moment.
*Speaking of tune-age, the piano melody they have during Poignant Moments in this show is BEAUTIFUL. I just love it when that piano starts. It gets used a lot with Jin and Sun moments (BEST CHARACTERS OF ALL).

Are we sure which group is the "right" group?
I need more answers!!!

Lori, good point. We aren't sure and can never be with "Lost."

Jason, So true.
Jules, I think that song was Claire singing that "Catch a Falling Star" that she was singing in the pit, just quiet and slowed down a little. It was way creepy.
Lori, I agree--I was just saying to Jason this morning that Jacob isn't exactly a nice guy and I don't think it's as simple as good and evil. Still, the Smoke Monster group does seem to have all the murderers, including the one who still has blood dripping off his knife (which, UGH, that particular murder was completely unnecessary--WHY DID HE HAVE TO GO EVIL? WHY?). That would make me uncomfortable if I were hanging out with them.

Oh, I do hope the Sayid thing is all a huge mistake.
On another note, since you're a poetry lover, I'd like to invite you and your readers to join in on my poetry survey. I am looking for a list of your 10 favorite classic poems. Read more about it here.
