Blogging for a Cure: Featuring Frank W. Dormer
I couldn’t be happier about being a part of 7-Imp’s kick-ass Blogging for a Cure effort to draw attention to the Robert’s Snow fundraiser to benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. What makes it even better is that I get to feature Frank W. Dormer, illustrator of the sublime Aggie and Ben. Here is Frank’s snowflake:
When I asked Frank to tell me a little bit about how this snowflake came to be a part of Robert’s Snow, he shared:
"I became involved after we lost a dear friend to cancer this year. Her name is Sue Spear, and she had been a teacher in our town for over 30 years. She really touched our children, and we would often be invited over to her house to swim in her pool.
"In doing the snowflake, I wanted something that would show Sue's spiritual side. She was always lighting up a room, so I decided to create 'Wunkala Wuff,' in her honor."
Beautiful.
You can bid on this snowflake in Auction 1, from Nov. 19-23. In the meantime, read Aggie and Ben repeatedly, check out Frank’s website, and visit some of the other people Blogging for a Cure.
While I’m at it, I’d like to mention that Frank’s next book, Not So Tall for Six written by Dianna Hutts Aston, is due out in January 2008. Personally, I have a copy on preorder.

I love this snowflake, and it's even better knowing the story behind it.
I really like Frank's style, and I'm looking forward to Not So Tall for Six and the next Aggie and Ben, too. Woot!
Thanks, Adrienne!

I know snow isn't supposed to "light up a room" but this one sure does. What a great story.
